BenQ's target for sales in China of its own branded mobile telephones is one million units for 2005. It hopes to increase the number of sales by more than 100% in 2006, a sales target of about three million units. Presently the company already has four SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production lines in its Suzhou hub, which have a monthly production of 600,000 units. Production on these lines could be expanded to a maximum of three million units per month. At the moment, the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission's approbation for BenQ's yearly production stands at three million units.
